Aletheian Academy operates aletheianacademy.com as a Christian educational platform. This page describes what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions about any of it: support@learntheclassics.com.

What we collect

  • Account information — your name, email address, password, and time zone.
  • Learning information — subjects and interests, availability, bookings, and session history.
  • Session records — in-session text chat is retained for student safety review. Video sessions are recorded only when both parties expressly agree.
  • Payment information — student payments are processed by Stripe. Card numbers go directly to Stripe and are never received or stored by us.
  • Tutor tax information — if a tutor’s yearly pay reaches the IRS reporting threshold, we collect a taxpayer identification number, legal name, and mailing address on a substitute W-9 so we can file Form 1099-NEC. The number is stored encrypted. We do not use it to withhold tax from ordinary pay.
  • Usage information — we use a cookie to keep you signed in, and we measure how the service is used with our own first-party analytics. We use no third-party advertising or analytics trackers of any kind.

How we use it

To run the service: matching students with tutors, scheduling and holding sessions, processing payments, filing required tax reports, providing support, sending transactional email, keeping students safe, and improving the service. We do not sell personal information, and we show no advertising.

Children under 13

We designed the service so that children under 13 never hold their own account. A parent or guardian holds the account, does all booking and billing, and gives consent before any child information is collected. Specifically:

  • The only information we collect about a child under 13 is a first name and age, provided by the parent. Children under 13 cannot have a login, email address, or public profile.
  • We collect it with the parent’s verifiable consent, given from the parent’s own account, and we keep a record of that consent.
  • It is used only to schedule and run tutoring sessions. Tutors see a first name and age — nothing more.
  • We do not condition a child’s participation on providing more information than is reasonably necessary.
  • A parent may review their child’s information, delete it, or refuse further collection at any time — from their account dashboard, or by writing to the email above.
  • A teen 13 or older may be given a limited login of their own, but only if their parent creates it and controls its permissions.

When we share information

Only with the service providers that run the platform for us — payment processing, video sessions, email delivery, and hosting — and only as needed to provide the service; with the IRS when we must file Form 1099-NEC; or when the law otherwise requires it. We never sell personal information and never share it for advertising.

Retention and deletion

We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account from your dashboard, which deletes your personal information; we retain only what the law requires us to keep, such as payment, consent, and tax records.

Security

All traffic is encrypted in transit, passwords are stored only in hashed form, tutor taxpayer identification numbers are stored encrypted, and access to children’s information is restricted and logged.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change affects how we handle children’s information, we will notify parents and obtain fresh consent where the law requires it.
